Are you transporting a delicate item? Then, it’s essential to wrap it carefully. Once it is out of your hands, it is out of your control. But you can make each delivery safe with the appropriate packaging strategy.
Use the right box
Think about your box before anything. It is your initial line of defense, and the size matters. An overly large box will allow your item to move around. On the contrary, a very small box will not allow enough cushioning.
Select a thick and durable box made of corrugated material. It should hold your product properly without any excess space. It should only leave enough space to accommodate the protective stuff.
When reusing boxes, which is great for sustainability, make sure that it is not weak at the edges. Remember that a compromised box can undo even the best internal protection.
Cushion well
For cushioning, you can use the following:

- Packing peanuts
- Paper
- Air pillows
- Blanket, etc.

Lay a cushioning material, put your item in the middle, and then fill the open areas. This is necessary to prevent any movement. Test it by shaking the box softly. When you hear or feel something moving, the packaging is not done well.

Normal protection is not sufficient sometimes. That is where bespoke foam packaging comes in. It is custom-shaped foam, which is made to fit the shape, weight, and level of fragility of your product. This type of package encases your product. It does not move and has no pressure points.
It particularly comes in handy when dealing with products that are oddly shaped or of high value, like:

Seal it
Surprisingly, great packaging can fail so easily due to a lack of good sealing. Always heavy-duty packing tape. Avoid duct or masking tape. These are weak. Also, apply it in the traditional H shape: one strip in the middle and two on the sides.
Fix any weak areas, and in particular, the bottom flaps. For heavy or valuable packages, use tamper-evident tape for additional security.
Label well
After wrapping the package, label it. Write signs such as:

- Handle with care
- This side up, etc.
Make sure that the label is visible. Couriers deal with thousands of packages per day. In some cases, they might not notice small labels.
